Weitere Werke folgten. Besonders bekannt wurde Stefan Zweig schon zu Lebzeiten für seine psychologischen Novellen, romanhaften Biografien und historischen Prosa-Miniaturen. Neben dem Schreiben war Stefan Zweig viel auf Reisen und knüpfte so auch Kontakte zu anderen Schriftstellern, Künstlern und Intellektuellen jener Zeit. Aufgrund seiner jüdischen Abstammung emigrierte er während des Nationalsozialismus zunächst nach England, später auch nach Brasilien, wo er am 23. Februar 1942 verstarb.
