Mittellos muss Phryxus aus seiner Heimat fliehen. Er trifft auf einen Gott in Delphi, der ihm das Fell eines Widders uberreicht; das goldene Vlies. Er gelangt in das Konigreich Kolchis und plant sich dort niederzulassen. Doch der dort ansassige Konig der Barbaren, Aietes, sieht eine Gefahr in ihm und begeht eine folgenschwere Tat, in die er auch seine Tochter Medea verwickelt.-

Heb jij ooit een vogel zó mooi horen zingen als deze mysterieuze nachtegaal? Hij woont in de stad van de almachtige Chinese keizer. Het pure en magische geluid van het vogeltje krijgt zoveel bewondering van bezoekers, dat zij alle pracht en praal van de rijke keizer spontaan vergeten. Want de nachtegaal, 'Lieve hemel, wat is dat mooi!'. Ook de keizer kan er geen genoeg van krijgen. Hij krijgt een namaakvogel die voor eeuwig voor hem kan zingen. Maar heeft die net zo'n wonderschone stem als de echte nachtegaal? Laat je in ‘De Chinese nachtegaal’ betoveren door het wereldberoemde sprookje van de Deense schrijver en dichter Hans Christian Andersen.Hans Christian Andersen (1805-1875) was een Deense schrijver, dichter en kunstenaar. Hij is beroemd om zijn kinderliteratuur, waaronder de geliefde sprookjes "De nieuwe kleren van de keizer", "De kleine zeemeermin", "De Chinese nachtegaal", "De standvastige tinnen soldaat", "De sneeuwkoningin", "Het lelijke jonge eendje" en "Het lucifersmeisje". Zijn boeken zijn vertaald naar elke levende taal, en er is tegenwoordig geen kind of volwassene die niet bekend is met zijn speelse personages. Zijn sprookjes zijn talloze malen bewerkt voor het toneel en het witte doek, met name door Disney in de animatiefilms "De kleine zeemeermin" in 1989 en "Frozen", dat losjes gebaseerd is op "De sneeuwkoningin" in 2013.Dankzij Andersens bijdrage aan kinderliteratuur wordt zijn verjaardag, 2 april, gevierd als Internationale Kinderboekendag.
