Da hans regiment igen står over for fjenden, er Henry blevet fanebærer, klædt i Unionshærens farver.
”Modets røde kokarde” udkom første gang på dansk i 1951.
Stephen Crane (1871-1900) var en amerikansk forfatter. Han er i dag især kendt for borgerkrigsromanen ”The Red Badge of Courage” (1895), der på dansk fik titlen ”Modets røde kokarde”.
