Stoffet khat var indtil for få årtier siden ukendt i Norden. I 1989 kom det på listen over forbudte narkotiske stoffer. Khat er et uraffineret blad- og stengelmateriale fra planten Catha Edulis, som dyrkes i Østafrika.
Denne artikel giver et indblik i khattens vej fra Afrika til Storbritannien og derfra videre til Norge og fortæller om et par smuglersager fra sidst i 1990’erne.
