Frank L. Packard was a Canadian novelist born in Quebec. As a young man, he worked as a civil engineer for the Canadian Pacific Railway, and this experience led him to write many railroad stories. Packard also wrote a series of mystery novels, the most well-known of which featured a character called Jimmie Dale.
